DIVA Safety Precautions 2020

The Dallas Independent Volleyball Association (“DIVA”) has adopted the following rules for all DIVA-sponsored indoor volleyball events effective October 1, 2020, until further notice:
DIVA will designate a Site Director for each event/facility. The Site Director’s decision is final. Failure to comply with the Site Director’s instruction will be grounds for dismissal from the facility/event.
NOTICE: THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF BEING IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH ANYONE OVER THE AGE OF 65 OR OLDER FOR 14 DAYS AFTER PARTICIPATING IN A SPORTING EVENT.
Players SHOULD NOT visit the playing facility or participate in an event if they do not feel well the day of the event. Some key indicators are: Cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; chills; repeated shaking with chills; muscle pain; headache; sore throat; loss of taste or smell; diarrhea; fever; or known close contact with a person who is lab confirmed to have COVID-19.
Any person with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis MUST NOT attend an event until the latter of:
1. No fever for at least 72-hours without the use of fever-reducing medication; other symptoms have improved; and at least ten days have passed since symptom onset; OR
2. At least ten days have passed since the positive test if asymptomatic the entire time.
NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED ENTRY INTO THE PLAYING FACILITY WITH A TEMPERATURE ABOVE 100.4 F (or 38 C). Contactless temperatures will be taken at the door.
Everyone entering the play facility must complete a QR Code questionnaire for contact tracing at the check-in table.
Players and spectators MUST wear masks throughout the facility which completely cover their mouth and nose. Players are exempted from wearing a mask when they are on the court during their scheduled match time. DIVA will NOT provide a mask – NO MASK, NO ENTRY.
Players are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to wear headbands while playing to minimize the need of touching one’s face.
Players and visitors should avoid being in groups larger than 10 individuals when not playing or officiating while inside or outside of the facility.
Players should AVOID any intentional physical contact with others, such as: no high-fives; no hugs; no handshakes; etc. Players should keep a reasonable distance from each other in team huddles.
Players should NOT cross under the net when switching sides or at the completion of a set/match. Masks MUST be worn immediately after a team’s match ends.
DIVA will provide hand sanitizer at the entrance of each playing facility, at check-in stations, and on score tables.
Referees MUST bring their own whistle. There will be an R1 (up-ref) for each set; no R2 (down-ref).
Scorers are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to bring their own pens/pencils. DIVA will have pens/pencils available, if needed.
The R1 (up-ref) is responsible for sanitizing the ball and pens/pencils between sets with supplies provided by DIVA.
All players are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to bring their own water bottles.
